This course goes beyond mere survival and delves into the
long-term skills of "living off the land" where we focus on
trapping & food procurement. This is an immersion course held on
private land where you can realistically apply your skills. You
will walk away with the basics of both modern and primitive
methods for feeding yourself in the wilds or providing for your
family during the lean times. |

Common edible plants: ID and gathering wild plants
for use in salads, making flours and breads, and augmenting
your meals at home. |
|
|

Practical animal tracking: ID, reading the stories in
tracks and how to apply these skills for hunting and
trapping. |
|
|

|
Deadfalls and Snares: carving figure-4 and Paiute
deadfalls, tips for trap placement, using lures & baits, and
how to set an effective snare. |
|
|

|
Game preparation: how to skin and clean wild game and
fish along with a variety of campfire cooking methods for
serving up hearty meals. |
|
|

|
Emergency food supplies: a look at what basic staples
to have on hand at home and long-term food storage
considerations. |
|
|
| ~
|
Making jerky: you won’t believe how easy this is.
Learn to make delicious tasting jerky using wild game as
well as store-bought beef. |
|
|
|
|
We will also discuss relevant hunting gear such
as modern small-game rifles, slingshots, survival fishing gear,
and more. This class is held in
accordance with Arizona State Game and Fish Laws and participants
will need to obtain a valid Arizona hunting license.

Hiking is minimal and we will be based at
one camp so participants can bring any gear they need to be
comfortable such as a tent, sleeping bag, etc… In addition to any
wild foods procured, two meals a day are provided during the
course. |
