Ultimate Survival Skills Camp | June 9-11, 2017- COURSE FULL

Understand your water needs and stay hydrated in extreme heat.This is a hands-on immersion course into an array of primitive and modern survival, food procurement, mantracking, urban survival and more. Each day runs from 9 am to 5 pm. The course is held at the Fort Tuthill Recreation Area about four miles south of Flagstaff. Participants need to obtain their own lodging or campsite in the area.

Day 1 Wilderness Survival

This session breaks down how to be more prepared for backcountry excursions and how to handle an unexpected night out in the wilds. Topics covered include: lostproofing methods, survival kits for the pack and vehicle, signaling for rescue, water location and purification methods, improvised and natural shelters, firemaking methods for inclement weather, hypothermia and heat-related injuries, wilderness first-aid kits, and roadside survival concerns.

Day 2 Edible Plants, Food Procurement, and Animal Tracking

Learn what’s really involved with living off the land and how to feed yourself with a variety of primitive and modern tools. We will delve into the top 5 edible plants in North America, snares & deadfalls, food preservation methods, basic animal track & sign interpretation, an overview of survival firearms. This class is held in accordance with Arizona State Game and Fish Laws. All traps shown will be for demonstration purposes only and no animals will be trapped during the course.

Day 3 Map & Compass/GPS

Learn the basics of orienteering with a map and compass while boosting your confidence in traveling off the beaten path. We will cover compass use, declination, topographic map reading, pacing, walking a straight line, following a bearing, how to select and use a GPS unit, and barehanded navigation using celestial aids. This course is entirely field-based and involves plenty of hands-on practice and cross-country navigation exercises to make the skills come alive.

Course Details:

Dates: June 9-11, 2017 (3 Days)

Cost: $150 for one day OR $400 for all three days.

Students may enroll for – ALL THREE DAYS OF TRAINING FOR $400. Each individual training day is priced at $150. Students may enroll for any combination of days.

Location: Flagstaff, Arizona.
